Celine’s job is to restore storm-damaged portraits of ages past.  The one she's working on now is of a handsome, green-eyed man from the late 19^th century.  Burned by betrayals and abandonment's (even if by death), Celine is mending a broken heart while doing the restoration.  She finds herself inexplicably drawn to Mr. Gorgeous, as her friend dubbed him, and has a strange stirring of attraction to him.  Extensive research turns up nothing on the man, not even his name, but that doesn't stop Celine’s daydreams.

 

While on vacation on a river boat cruising the Mississippi River, Celine makes a wish on the Blue Moon.  What would it be like to know him for real, to look into the green eyes that had burned a place into her soul?  She wished she knew.

During the months she’s been restoring an old portrait of a man, Celine Cauvin has wondered about the identity of the handsome man, and what he was like.  While holding an opal pendant, she wishes on a blue moon to learn the answers to her questions about the unknown man in the painting. Celine’s wish is granted and she’s transported back to 1871 where she meets the man from the portrait.

 

Rhys Butler doesn’t know what to think about the scantily clad woman when she first appears, nor whether to believe her tale about coming from the future.  He knows he desires her, and doesn’t want her to leave him.
 
The author’s lush, written imagery take us back in time and I want to read more of this story and these characters and her words.

Through a time warp, modern day Celine Chuvain finds herself on a riverboat in 1871, and her problems have just begun.  Handsome rogue, Rhys Butler, believes she’s been sent to spy on him.  To make matters worse, he closely resembles the man in a portrait she’s been restoring.  While trying to convince Rhys that she isn’t a spy, she begins to fall in love with him, and he with her.  Ms. Loren is a master of sensual writing.  A delightful story.  Well done!

Listening to the water being churned and cascading off the paddlewheel. How about being there with the man of your dreams? Celine Chauvin, commissioned art restorer, has become obsessed with
the identity of the man from the Toussant collection donated to the Louisiana Museum of Art. He looks to be in his thirties, circa 1870. She's been unsuccessful in discovering anything about the man who's been labeled by one of her team members Mr. G – G for gorgeous. But she's alone on this Mississippi excursion until, on the night of a
Blue Moon, and as she fondles the opal pendant that belonged to her mother, she makes a simple wish: that she could find out who he is and why his painting has such an effect on her.

Writer Jaquelin Lorin, with artistic embellishment, skillfully transports her readers to another time. More perilous as our heroine quickly learns when she comes face-to-face with a not-so-nice deckhand. A wonderful reading experience. Thank you Ms. Lorin.
